A New Zealand chartered accountant firm about people, not numbers

In 1993, a group of Hawke’s Bay accountants took the business plunge and formed the firm Atkinson and Associates.

Stephen Shepherd was a day one employee, followed quickly by Peter Hensman. By 1997 they were partners and the firm was renamed Atkinson Shepherd Hensman. From the start, their vision was to be more than just another company of NZ-based chartered accountants. By adopting the attitude that accounting is more about people than numbers, the firm grew to where it is today.

There have been changes along the way. Change is inevitable, and successful businesses are the ones who adapt. Despite having long-serving staff (Debbie Richards recently clocked 25 years), we’ve become a different firm from where we began, but our client relationships are still our top priority.

We think of ourselves as a family, and extend that spirit of respect, trust and support to all our clients, so that together, we can enjoy ongoing prosperity.
